A Quick Little Intro!
Welcome to the blog!
Thank you for joining me on my journey through cooking an entire cookbook and learning some habit eating habits along the way.
I wanted to write this little intro post to explain a couple sections I'm going to be regularly featuring in my Jamie Oliver blog posts and include some important things to know about myself that will come into play when cooking.
In no particular order, here we go:
- At the top of each of his recipes, there is an estimated preparation time to make the whole dish so I will make sure to list that expected time frame as well as how long I actually take to make the whole thing to see how "regular-person" friendly those cooking times are.
- I will be trying to make sure I take a picture of all the ingredient before they become the final product so there's a "before and after" aspect to every post but I 100% will forget to do that sometimes if I'm tired or too excited to eat so forgive me!
- I will not be fully explaining each step of the recipes because that would mean just copying Jamie Oliver's recipes into my posts and that screams something about copyright infringement to me. I will be focusing on just my challenges through the cooking/ingredient purchasing experiences and giving my thoughts on the whole thing :)
- I live in downtown Vancouver, BC in Canada so the grocery stores I will be frequenting with be: Safeway, Marketplace IGA, Whole Foods, and Urban Fare. Just in case these stores aren't familiar, here is a quick breakdown of each store:
- Safeway is the largest of the 4 places and is your typical larger supermarket. It's my go-to place when I'm planning to do a big haul.
- IGA is similar to Safeway in products but is just smaller so on occasion there is less section. It is the closest to my house so it's the one I go to most often.
- Whole Foods is the healthier store with more niche products. The Whole Foods near me is, unfortunately, one of their smaller locations so the selection isn't as good as I would hope.
- Urban Fare is a bit similar to Whole Foods in being a more "premium" grocery store; selling more organic products and features a deli/butcher, in-house bakery, and a fresh cheese section.
If there is anything I'm missing that would be helpful to include, please send me an email via my Contact page and I would love to clear it anything up or update this page with more info!
Thank you so much for joining me on this cooking journey :)
I'm super excited to share all the upcoming cooking fun and new experiences with everyone!
